Malawi is different from most other countries in Africa in that it has a moderate, sub-continental climate. The tourist brochures bill Malawi as 'the warm heart of Africa'with beautiful and varied scenery while Malawians tend to be extremely friendly toward travellers. There are national parks and game reserves, mountain hiking and plateau trekking for nature lovers.

The best time to visit Malawi overall is in the dry season, which lasts from late April to October or November. If you're coming to see wildlife, late in the dry season is better, when animals converge at water holes. The four different regions of Malawi cover a variety of experience for the traveller.
